Fredrick Carl Stegmann, Jr.

While being a native of Newport Beach, it is Fred’s international career that brings unparalleled expertise in jewelry, antiques, and fine art as well as a global network of buyers to his clients in Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and throughout Southern California. While at UCLA he began a ten-year career as a top Wilhelmina model. He based in London and worked in Milan, Paris, Hamburg, Zürich and in Tokyo appearing in leading publications such as Vogue, L’uomo Vogue, Mondo Uomo, Linea, Harpers and Tatler for clients including De Beers, Mercedes Benz, Silk Cut, Vidal Sassoon, Guess, Christian Dior, Versace, Aquascutum, Mizuno, Puma, Asics, Daimaru, Takashimaya, and many others. 

During his international career, Fred became exposed to the world of beauty, luxury and fine art. He discovered a love for jewelry, art, antiques and objects of vertu. He frequented the world-famous Louvre des Antiquaires, was often found at the Hotel Drouot in Paris seeking special treasures for clients, and joined the La Biennale in Paris where he connected with buyers from throughout Europe and the world.

Upon returning to the United States, he began exhibiting at prestigious shows including Miami, The Modernism Shows, and Hillsborough. While exhibiting for over thirteen years at these shows, Fred became an internationally respected dealer with a network of clients, contacts and resources that spanned Europe, Asia and the United States.

For over twenty-six years, Fred has continued to develop a deep expertise in jewelry, fine art, antiques, and decorative arts. For Fred, education and learning is an ongoing joy, especially as it relates to jewelry – including GIA, and Christies Education in New York City; education continues to provide him with unmatched market knowledge and awareness. In addition, he is a graduate of UCLA in Political Science and speaks both French and German.

While Fred’s knowledge in the field in unsurpassed, it is his deep respect and care for the transitions that his clients go through that sets Laguna Beach Estate Sales apart. He understands the complexity of family dynamics with the ranges of emotion and truly knows what it is like to sell family treasures; he has done it for his own family as well. On a personal note, Fred was born at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. Growing up he was always in the water…swimming, playing water polo, and surfing.  After living in Laguna Beach for 22 years he now resides back in Newport Beach. When he is not handling estates, Fred spends his leisure time studying, gardening, swimming, travelling abroad (when time permits) and is involved in animal rescue.
