Recently, we acquired an estate brimming with extraordinary treasures—sterling silver serving pieces, exquisite collections of Asian antiquities, and breathtaking Meissen and Majolica. Yet, what truly captured our hearts so far, was a life-sized masterpiece from Maison Durenne, founded in 1855 by the renowned maître de forge of Sommevoire. This prestigious foundry showcased its works at the Expositions Universelles of 1855, 1867, and 1878, producing remarkable cast-iron sculptures and architectural marvels. Durenne oversaw multiple factories, including the one in Wassy, and in 1968, the Durenne and Val d’Osne groups merged, further cementing their legacy. |
