Born in Moss Point, MS in 1897, M.H. Herrin was an American artist mostly known for his portraiture of some of the nation�s most prominent political figures and movie stars including, Winston Churchill, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis andSophia Loren to name a few. He attended the Pratt Institute of Fine and Applied Arts in Brooklyn during the 1920�s. His work is unique in the way he approaches the method of portraiture; instead of working in real time, he takes about a dozen pictures of his subject and works from a photograph. One of his most notable portraits is of King George of England which was painted for the British War Relief Society of New York. In the 1970�s, a number of his paintings hung in the U.S. Comptroller�s office at the Will Roger�s Hospital in NY.
