This knife was an original issue knife for the US Navy made by the PAL Cutlery Company. This Mark 1 combat knife has a 5 1/4" length Clip-point "Bowie" style blade. It is 10 1/8" overall in length with a 1 3/8" cross  guard. It comes with a Belt Frog and Scabbard marked with USN Mk1 on the front and NORD - 8114 BM Co 1/2 VP on the back. John Ek Commando Knife Co. Style 1, Richmond, VA, With Display Case. Number 82 of 300.
Extremely rare opportunity to own a John Ek Commando Knife Model 1 with an original factory display case. The knife serial number is E082. This is a genuine Ek Commando Knife of the style that John Ek, in the early days of WWII, called the Style 1. This "1" is the first number on the blade. The actual serial number is "E" followed by the digits between 001 and 300, in this limited edition of only 300 knives. The grips for this special edition are Rock Maple, as used on the WWII Era knives, affixed with genuine poured lead rivets, customary during that period. The leather sheath is an Ek Re-issue of the original WWII sheath, historically correct for the Style 1 knife.

This model 1553 was produced between 1937 and 1948 and it has the finger groove handle. The KA-BAR brand is stamped in the blade near the handle along with OLEAN, N.Y.
