If the item is of significant value, a reserve price may have been discussed with the seller. Typically this reserve is set at a fraction (1/10 to 1/4) of the replacement value. That is really low! Woodhill Auctions does not accept consignments where the seller has unrealistic expectations of the selling price. Lots offered by Woodhill Auctions are offered as jewelry and not scrap metal. Consequently, reserves for some lots are established based on the recyclable value of the precious metal.
