This estate sale is for the items of Vivian Grotte. Vivian was a very organized lady with quite a collection of antiques, collectibles, furs, Norwegian heritage items, books, and many other items. A brief bio will explain many of the items you will see in this auction! Vivian moved to Northwood in 1955 and lived the rest of her life there. She was a nurse for over 55 years, and she married Jerome, a WWII vet that was in Pearl Harbor during the war. Jerry grew up in Northwood and his grandparents were immigrants from Norway that homesteaded there in the late 1800s. Vivian’s grandparents were immigrants from Norway as well, which gave her a love for her Norwegian heritage and anything Norwegian. Vivian loved finding antiques and valuable treasures at estate sales, and she loved restoring old furniture. She was a member of the Grand Forks Historical Society, and she loved reading and collecting history books about the war, North Dakota history and immigrant stories. She loved to knit, sew, and crochet, she loved to garden, and she collected old dolls, teddy bears. She collected anything Norwegian that she could find, and she learned how to paint rosemaling as well. The spinning wheel is from Norway, brought over by my ancestors in the 1880s. The Dale Sweaters were purchased in Norway. Vivian took care of her items, as almost everything in the house is in working and clean condition! This is a great opportunity to obtain some really fabulous items! Please contact Jonathan @701-739-1164 if you have questions about anything. We will not be offering shipping on this auction UNLESS you've arranged prior to bidding. Please don't hesitate to ask, however, as we may be able to work with you on shipping for certain items.
