If the line to pay gets long, the jewelry department will be closed until everyone in the line to pay has been relieved of his / her money and left happily with their purchases. I apologize in advance for this, but when the line of eager buyers (impatient to pay and get on to the next sale) starts to snake through the room and perhaps into the next room, I can’t be standing over the jewelry cases while one person (no names mentioned, ever!) shifts from one foot to the other, touches each item in the case once, fondles each item in the case twice, holds every third item out at arm’s length to observe the details, picks up each item including obvious paste and base metal, and goes over each in detail looking for marks with a loupe, and then stands there in a trancelike state deciding slowly which one item she / he might buy. As soon as the line of buyers has been helped and the buyers are gone, the jewelry department will open again and you may fondle the gems to your heart’s content. It wouldn’t hurt to bring a couple of bags or boxes and a bit of packing material if you plan on buying fragile stuff. This isn’t Tiffany’s and we are unable to furnish free tissue paper or those charming pale robin’s egg blue boxes with purchases. On the other hand we are a LOT cheaper than Tiffany’s!
