Please note that participation in an Auction held at Hudson Valley Auctioneers, whether in person, by phone, via absentee bid or by way of a Live Internet platform such as Live Auctioneers requires the acceptance of our terms of sale, participation therefore constitutes acceptance of all terms listed on this page. Hudson Valley Auctioneers has endeavored to accurately describe all items being sold, but all property herein offered for sale is strictly "as is", and it is the bidder's responsibility, whether bidding in person, by mail, by e-mail or by telephone to determine the exact condition of each item. No statement in the catalog, bill of sale, invoice, or elsewhere by a representative of, or person in employ of Hudson Valley Auctioneers shall be deemed to be a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability with respect to age, condition, size, quality, variety, importance, provenance of historical relevance of any of these items. The auctioneer will be the final judge as to which bidder is the highest bidder. In the event of any dispute in this matter, the auctioneer shall, at his or her discretion decide whether to reopen the bidding. Title to all merchandise shall pass to the highest bidder and the fall of the auctioneers’ "hammer". The purchaser shall assume full risk and responsibility for the lot purchased once title has passed. All items purchased on the Live Auctioneers platform must be paid for in 6 days from the date of sale, unless prior arrangements have been made with Hudson Valley Auctioneers a dispute will be filed after that period, claims to unpaid items are void and the gallery will have full title & claim to these items in order to resell them at auction. In the event of a filed dispute the bidder will have 7 days to contact and arrange payment of winning bids before the dispute becomes permanent and the items re-offered. All lots must be removed at the buyer's expense within 10 business days of the sale, after that period all lots are subject to a storage fee of $10.00 per lot, per day, unless prior arrangements have been made. Hudson Valley Auctioneers reserves the right to dispose of purchased lots if the cost of accumulated storage fees exceeds its sale price. All bidders are required to register and give full identification prior to the beginning of the auction and are required to use the number issued to them when identifying themselves as the successful bidder. Auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any property prior to auction. This is a privately owned & operated sale and we reserve the right to refuse admittance to any person. No transfer will be recognized from one buyer to another. All sales are subject to a 25% buyer’s premium. Payments accepted are VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Check with ID & cash, wire transfers accepted, bank information available upon request. Bidder does hereby indemnify and hold harmless auctioneer & seller from any and all damages, claims, or liabilities from injuries to persons or property of any type whatsoever, caused before, during, or after the auction. Items listed in the catalogue are for reference use only, description of items are no guarantee to the exact condition and / or age of any described item in the catalogue. All sales are subject to an 8.125% NY Sales tax, a tax resale certificate MUST be on file with the auction house in order to be tax exempt. Due to liability concerns we DO NOT in any circumstance ship or pack items ourselves, we will however take the items to a local shipper where it will be packed and shipped professionally according to your specifications, for additional shipping options and a list of shippers see Our Services Consignors will be paid out between the second and third week after the sale date. Hudson Valley Auctioneers, located at 432 Main Street, Beacon, New York will present an unreserved absentee, phone bid and online antique and estate auction through Liveauctioneers.com on Monday August 31st at 5:00 PM EST. A gallery preview will be held Sunday 8/30 from 1-5 and Monday day of sale beginning at 1pm and ending at 4:30. The nearly 400 lot sale combines items from several local estates and collections from Manhattan and points south, Far Hills NJ and other points east and west. A large selection Chinese including 4 early watercolors from a Vermont collection, embroideries, porcelains, carved hardstones, Japanese carved furniture, laquerware, bronzes, and woodblocks are mixed throughout. Many china services by Royal Copenhagen, Shelley, Rosenthal, Meissen and others complement sterling, .800 silver and silverplate flatware and hollowware. Several lots of gold and silver jewelry, watches as well as costume jewelry lots from NYC and Far Hills are mixed with fur coats, antique leather hatboxes with hats, dresser sets, fans and other finery. 'Brown Furniture' seems to have gained somewhat of a second wind as of late and leading examples in the sale are a Phyffe carved 19th century tester bed with a new custom horsehair mattress , several period cherry chests, a two part dropleaf dining table, a fine 19th century Hackensack cupboard in two parts and glazed doors, s Sheraton sideboard with bottle drawers, a fine Japanesque inlaid rosewood music cabinet and a pencil inlaid fine Victorian sideboard. Descendants of a wartime refugee family consigned a rare Illi Kagan sofa, chair and table refurbished by the Kagan Studios in the 1970s and the group leads a diverse selection of Mid Century modern furniture and accessories which also include Knoll leather chairs, three teakwood wall units and other teak pieces, rosewood bedroom furniture, Mobler and other Swedish and Danish items. Artwork from the period include an abstract signed A.T.M. and inscribed on the reverse Alice Trumbull Mason, a fine Joseph Stella oil titled "Player", several pieces by John Liello, several abstracts by Uta Von Bern, several by Milton Lunin, several by Allan Davidson, Kenneth Hari and others. An interesting consignment includes a selection of drawings, renderings, watercolors and ephemera that purports to be from the estate of architect J. Floyd Yewell. Yewell was responsible for several large commissions, won many awards and was perhaps most recognized as the illustrator of a well known poster advertising The New York Central train lines of which the auction offers a watercolor study among the many pieces. More traditional artworks include a large oil by Arnsby Brown ARA, a William Funk portrait, another large oil by Emmy Leuze-Hirschfeld, a watercolor by Andreas Achenbach, oils by William Frieghoff, John Bently, Urban Huchet, Larry Day, Aris Knikker and a recently discovered early 19th century portrait of George Washington after Gilbert Stuart. Other items which should attract attention are several lots of early glass, flip, enameled and more, a Scottish tall clock and several other timepieces, several Victorian iron benches, a silver plated presentation fire horn, bamboo fly rods and reels, an Old Towne style ribbed canoe , lots of lighting and other accessories. Shipping and pickup of all items is by curbside protocol Tuesday September 1st from 10am to 3pm and daily thereafter 9-3:30 or by appointment.
