Please note that participation in an Auction held at Hudson Valley Auctioneers, whether in person, by phone, via absentee bid or by way of a Live Internet platform such as Live Auctioneers requires the acceptance of our terms of sale, participation therefore constitutes acceptance of all terms listed on this page. Hudson Valley Auctioneers has endeavored to accurately describe all items being sold, but all property herein offered for sale is strictly "as is", and it is the bidder's responsibility, whether bidding in person, by mail, by e-mail or by telephone to determine the exact condition of each item. No statement in the catalog, bill of sale, invoice, or elsewhere by a representative of, or person in employ of Hudson Valley Auctioneers shall be deemed to be a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability with respect to age, condition, size, quality, variety, importance, provenance of historical relevance of any of these items. The auctioneer will be the final judge as to which bidder is the highest bidder. In the event of any dispute in this matter, the auctioneer shall, at his or her discretion decide whether to reopen the bidding. Title to all merchandise shall pass to the highest bidder and the fall of the auctioneers’ "hammer". The purchaser shall assume full risk and responsibility for the lot purchased once title has passed. All items purchased on the Live Auctioneers platform must be paid for in 6 days from the date of sale, unless prior arrangements have been made with Hudson Valley Auctioneers a dispute will be filed after that period, claims to unpaid items are void and the gallery will have full title & claim to these items in order to resell them at auction. In the event of a filed dispute the bidder will have 7 days to contact and arrange payment of winning bids before the dispute becomes permanent and the items re-offered. All lots must be removed at the buyer's expense within 10 business days of the sale, after that period all lots are subject to a storage fee of $10.00 per lot, per day, unless prior arrangements have been made. Hudson Valley Auctioneers reserves the right to dispose of purchased lots if the cost of accumulated storage fees exceeds its sale price. All bidders are required to register and give full identification prior to the beginning of the auction and are required to use the number issued to them when identifying themselves as the successful bidder. Auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any property prior to auction. This is a privately owned & operated sale and we reserve the right to refuse admittance to any person. No transfer will be recognized from one buyer to another. All sales are subject to a 25% buyer’s premium. Payments accepted are VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Check with ID & cash, wire transfers accepted, bank information available upon request. Bidder does hereby indemnify and hold harmless auctioneer & seller from any and all damages, claims, or liabilities from injuries to persons or property of any type whatsoever, caused before, during, or after the auction. Items listed in the catalogue are for reference use only, description of items are no guarantee to the exact condition and / or age of any described item in the catalogue. All sales are subject to an 8.125% NY Sales tax, a tax resale certificate MUST be on file with the auction house in order to be tax exempt. Due to liability concerns we DO NOT in any circumstance ship or pack items ourselves, we will however take the items to a local shipper where it will be packed and shipped professionally according to your specifications, for additional shipping options and a list of shippers see Our Services Consignors will be paid out between the second and third week after the sale date. In accordance to current New York State regulations Hudson Valley Auctioneers, located at 432 Main Street, Beacon, New York will present an unreserved antique and estate auction exclusively online through liveauctioneers.com, absentee bids and telephone bidding only on Monday April 20th at 5:00 PM EST. remote staffing is available for extra imaging and to address any inquiries regarding individual items.
The nearly 350 lot sale combines several estates notably from an old Ridgefield family home and a long held storage lot in Stamford. A fine mix of 18th through 20th century items all in excellent condition. Several pieces of American and English period furniture, a fine French abbatant desk, waxed pine, an antique pair carved marble garden benches, a few hundred ounces of sterling flatware and hollow-ware, fine china, several gilt framed English artworks, several fur coats and a few fine Persian carpets are a few highlights from the Ridgefield home.
The storage unit in Stamford yielded top quality and condition collection of Baker furniture, Schmieg and Kotzian dining room, cut glass, dinnerware by Royal Crown Derby, Herend, Wedgewood, Royal Doulton and other fine china, 15 framed antique maps mostly South America, some US, several Spanish Colonial paintings, Chinese and Japanese artifacts and other antique niceties.
Other contributions to the sale include several oils by and from the estate of Uta Von Bern and also by and from the estate of Polly Doyle, both relatively unknown but talented artists. Other artists represented in the auction are Claude Enders, Dave Burrows, Frederick Karoly, after John Constable, Robert McLeod, Karel de Bauw, Carlos Bracher, W. Cortland Butterfield, T. v. Hieneman, several Milton Lunin local scenes.
Rounding out the sale are a few Mid Century pieces, including Robsjohn Gibbings, Paul McCobb, Thayer Coggin , the remaining contents of Jim Donovan's estate including sculptures, some American country furniture, 10 lots of Native American artifacts, a rare Chapotot Paris silver sundial with compass, kinetic art by Yaacov Agam, a Dave Burrows clay pot, Jaeger Lecoultre watch & jewelry, a rare Eiffeltower lithograph, "Le Genie Civil" from 1889, a Photo album with WW2 era Korea, Marilyn Monroe pictures, a German bronze bust on marble base by A. Paasch, foundry H Gladenbeck und Sohn, Francois Gaultier French Fashion doll, and many more items of interest.
