Welcome to the 54th Annual Fall Classic Custer State Park Bison Auction
Custer State Park staff welcome you to the longest running bison auction in the world. For 54 years, the park has been utilizing the auction as a management tool to ensure the herd is at a size that can be supported by available rangelands and to provide bison to establish and re-populate herds across the continent. There was once millions of bison stretched across North America, by 1900 it was estimated that fewer than 1,000 bison remained on the entire continent. Peter Norbeck, often recognized as the "Father of Custer State Park," acknowledged this situation and decided to take action to preserve what is now our National Mammal. In 1914, the park, then known as Custer State Forest and Game Sanctuary purchased 36 bison to start its herd. Today the park manages a herd of over 1,400 bison. The park's current management plan continues Norbeck's dream of helping bring these magnificent animals back from near-extinction. Custer State Park bison can be found in nearly every state in the U.S., as well as Canada and Mexico. All animals sold qualify for grass fed only programs. Along with the native mixed-grass prairie grass bison are given free choice mineral. No supplemental feeding of any kind occurs during the winter. Thank you for attending our auction and purchasing these quality animals so that Custer State Park can continue to do its part in supporting the goal of "Bison One Million". Mark Hendrix, Resource Program Manager ---REGISTRATION--- If this is your first time bidding online with Bradeen Auctions you will need to create a HiBid user account and register for the auction before you can bid. You will need an email address to create a HiBid user account. Click "Login/New Bidder" on the menu at the top of the page and follow the instruction to create a HiBid user account. You will then need to click "Register to Bid" for the specific auction you intend to bid on. A credit card is required for auction registration to verify the identity of our bidders and to protect the integrity of our bidder's pool. Thank you for your cooperation. If you believe you have registered but have not been asked to enter your credit card information YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE REGISTRATION PROCESS. The first lot you bid on will prompt you to enter your credit card information. Please bid early to ensure you are completely registered. ---ONLINE BIDDING--- During live webcast bidding, bids recognized by the Auctioneer take precedence over all other bids. Due to the slight time delay (1-3 seconds) inherent in live online bidding, it is not uncommon for the Auctioneer to recognize a live floor bidder over an online bidder if both bids are placed simultaneously. In the event this does occur, the floor bidder recognized by the Auctioneer is forced into the winning position and the online bidder will no longer be recognized as the winning bidder at that price. The online bidder will then be required to bid the new asking price amount to move into the winning position. Bid Early So You Don't Miss Out! By placing a "Max Bid" you ensure your bid for that amount will be accepted in the event of internet failure, and take precedence over bids of the same amount placed at a later time "Tie bid goes to the earliest bidder". Please note: In a "tie bid" situation only, if you are currently the "winning" tied bidder (due to the fact you originally bid first), should you choose to increase your "Max Bid", the computer no longer recognizes the tie bid and will automatically increase your bid one increment higher than the other tied bidder. Please take time to read the terms and conditions for this auction before placing any bids. ---REGISTRATION--- A credit card is required for auction registration to verify the identity of our bidders and to protect the integrity of our bidder's pool. Thank you for your cooperation. If you believe you have registered but have not been asked to enter your credit card information YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE REGISTRATION PROCESS. The first lot you bid on will prompt you to enter your credit card information.
Please bid early to ensure you are completely registered. ***ONLINE AUCTION DISCLAMER*** When using our online auction services, you are making firm commitments to purchase said item(s) and are entering into a legal and binding contract.
