Listing Information

The Arthur Beckwith house was designed by William Kessler and built in 1960. It's unique sawtooth roof and angled upper windows show the influence from Kessler's time working for Minoru Yamasaki. It's stunning design is a perfect backdrop for the furnishings, art, and collections of Manny Frisch, the home's 3rd and current owner!

Mid-Century furnishings by Edward Wormley, Harry Bertoia, Charles Eames, Milo Baughman, Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer & Russell Woodward are all included in this sale, as well as great art and sculpture including pieces by Detroiters Michele Oka Doner, Suzanne Velick, and Donna Rae Hirt.

Manny and his wife, Debbie were serious collectors, and the house is packed with their many extensive collections, including African and Tribal masks and carvings, carved stone temple carvings, rugs, decorative boxes, clocks and watches, trains, handmade baskets, Dansk porcelain dinnerware and teak (bowls, platters, pepper mills, ice buckets, salad sets, etc), artist made dolls, weavings and textiles, studio and art pottery, miniatures and netsukes, Chinese Cloisonne, trains, picture frames, unframed vintage and antique prints, and tools of every kind! They also amassed a huge collection of books throughout the house on subjects including art, architecture, mid-century, medicine, Judaica, history, trains, home renovation, travel and much more!

Manny was a talented craftsman himself and made beautiful stone bird houses, outdoor sculptures that resemble Nevelson's, many whimsical miniature aluminum sculptures and shadowboxes, and more!

A complete list of contents and photographs will be added by Tuesday evening.

A COOL, PACKED, & VERY FUN SALE! DON'T MISS IT!!!
