UNIQUE MOSAIC GLASS ART

by MAX MARQUEZ

Glass &

Mosaic Artist

MAX MARQUEZ was born in 1961 in rural Illinois to a lawyer and his wife, who met and married in graduate school. Max was raised with love, discipline and humor as part of a large, inclusive family with 14 children.

After attending college and graduate school in Chicago, Max moved to the East Coast for eight years before heading west. She squeezed in time for her art during her “corporate” years, and was able to focus more on her unique glass creations after an accident left her with a brain injury and was unable to work for periods of time between 2013 and 2017.

While Ms. Marquez has most often presented her art as gifts or donated them to a non-profit organization, in the early 2000’s she sold her work at a gallery in southern Colorado, where she lived at the time. Currently in Colorado continuing to recover from her injury, Max is creating art again, focusing on personalized, commissioned works.

We are presenting 2 of her works for sale, here:

Belly Dancer” was created in 2015, dedicated to and inspired by her daughter, Sarah. The form reflects inner beauty, grace, and strength. The veil represents the filters through which we see others, and others see us; placement of the veil can be rearranged as desired. Composed from various types of hand cut glass, mirror and beads on board, wood framed with wire hanger on back. $250

Dimensions: 39”Hx17”Wx1.75”D 14.5lbs

Brooklyn Bridge”, also created in 2015, was inspired by the years Ms. Marquez spent working and playing in New York City. The iconic, photogenic Brooklyn Bridge evokes the heart and pulse of the City and all that draws her back to the City. Hand cut milk glass, colored glass, iridized copper glass, opalescent glass. $325

Dimensions: 17”Lx39.5”Hx1.75”D 20lbs.

Recently Sold:

Ms. Marquez created “Phases of the Moon”, aka “The Moon Series”, in 2013. Inspired by Arizona’s beautiful night skies and her appreciation for local light-impact laws that make it possible to enjoy more fully her favorite celestial body, the Moon Series began with the creation of “Crescent Moon”.  Each Moon incorporates pieces of mirror, as do all of her works. Three (3) Sculptures  SOLD April 2018
