Attention rockhounds: From the estate of some very active collectors, who hit most of the popular collecting sites in the west during the 1950’s and 60’s , a plethora of specimens, cutting materials, slabs, fossils, and sea shells is being offered for sale. Here is a sample of the materials: Numerous wooden and glass display cabinets and storage drawers with drawer flats for specimens, all loaded with materials, including copper, borate, and other minerals, as well as unusual ores (bauxite, silver ore, etc.), gorgeous sulphur crystals, finished cabochons, some calibrated, some not. Thousands of minerals specimens, starting at .50, with prices going up but well below market. For example, a 3x3 specimen box of copper minerals or galena specimens would be $2.50. Museum quality polished (and unpolished) petrified wood rounds, some large, priced individually. Thousands of fossils, mostly of marine invertebrates, but also some flora. Hundreds of uncleaned quartz points and clusters, still with staining, etc. as when dug ($4/pound). Rough rocks, on tables and on ground in back yard--one dollar per pound (a full 5 gal bucket = about 40 pounds) rose quartz obsidian mahogany obsidian Stone Cyn jasper Chapenite (Siam Siding jasper) probably 50 pounds Utah wonderstone Utah Septarian nodules, again, dozens of pounds Rainbow Ridge jasper, with some especially fine large pieces perfect for making large spheres. Magnetic magnetite--a large pile of large pieces, with strong magnetic pull. Large pieces of peach alabaster from Utah, perfect for carving/sculpting A large pile of Tick Cyn howlite geodes and thunder eggs some jade (nephrite) All sorts of desert jaspers, probably about 3 tons. some plume agate Probably more than 200 pounds of Oregon and other western petrified wood; some Arizonan. A lot of high grade opalized wood, many showing wild patterns and awesome lapidary potential. Numerous large landscape rock specimens, including some very large petrified wood. Dozens of large (2 quart) freezer grab bags of lapidary slabs. $5/bag. Includes Stoney Creek jasper, and other similarly attractive materials. Chalcedony roses Selenite sheets (large, $1/pound) antique glass bottles and purple shards antique glass insulators abalone shells in pristine condition, some quite large. Large ones will be $10. Thousands of sea shells from around the world. Some rare and beautiful. Jewelry.
