Let’s start with an impressive original oil portrait of William Oliver painted by London artist A. Gias and dated 1830.  William Oliver was the Shorthand Reporter for the Houses of Parliament and other Government Departments as Principal Assistant to Mess. Gurney-Shorthand Writer and Teacher of Shorthand for over 30 years. His portrait will also include his book “Gurney’s System of Shorthand” by William Oliver 1852.  He also fought in the Crimean War and was wounded and decorated.
