What Sets Us Apart
Our knowledge, compassion and empathy set us apart from the competition. We recognize the emotional challenge our clients face when grieving for a loved one and having to cope with the reality of dealing with an estate. We are a ‘soft sell’ and will always respect the boundaries and wishes of the family.
Our sales are fun. Because we love what we do, we welcome our customers and make sure they have a good time at our sales. When people are happy, they buy more.
Our sales are fair. We don’t overcharge our customers. We have the knowledge and experience to price according to market demand. Our goal is to move the merchandise with reasonable prices so that our clients (the family) and our customers (buyers) are satisfied.
We are proud members of the Antiques & Collectibles National Association (ACNA) and the Somerset County Business Partnership (SCBP).
Hazelwood Estate Sales is the culmination of a 40-year love of buying and selling antiques and collectibles. When the business owners, Bob and Susen Edwards, met in the early 1980’s, this was one of the interests that brought them together.
In 1998, Bob and Susen began hosting regular garage and estate sales. The couple developed a following among the local community, antique and flea market dealers. Bob also conducts a successful eBay business.
The business was kept on an informal basis until Susen’s mother passed away. The couple was now faced with the emotional task of cleaning out 60+ years of accumulation. “It was overwhelming, even for us,” Susen noted. “If we did not have our experience and knowledge, it would have been impossible.”
It was at that point that Bob and Susen decided to turn their passion into a full-time endeavor. Bob added, “If we can help families ease the stress of transition, then we’ve really helped make a difference in their lives.”
“In our own way we are contributing to saving the planet. By reselling, we help to reduce landfill and help to recycle quality, usable items,” Susen said. “We also help people furnish their homes for a fraction of the cost of new.”
